Ikea’s collaboration with Swedish House Mafia – who hails as one of the most successful artists in the electronic music industry – hopes to explore how to enable music creators and lovers to be more creative at home. This feels especially important after a series of lockdowns which sometimes made our homes feel like cages rather than spaces for creativity and comfort. Since everyone is apparently now a DJ, Ikea recognised how many people are making music at home, therefore, home is where their musical creativity begins to bloom. Swedish House Mafia – consisting of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso – and Ikea wanted to recognise the important role that music plays in our homes and its ability to boost creativity, release stress, and make a space feel like home. This new collection will showcase products that are designed to make it easier to get into a creative flow at home, with a focus on affordable home furnishing solutions for producing, playing, and listening to music.
The news was announced at the Ikea Festival with the collection planned to launch in September 2022. But Swedish House Mafia is back in the game and on our radars, this time with a new… furniture line? The house music group has collaborated with build-it-yourself furniture giant and fellow Swedes, Ikea. It’s 2012, you’re blasting Don’t You Worry Child with a Smirnoff Ice and without a care in the world… just kidding.
